Climate Innovators & Entrepreneurs: Make the Most of Your COP28 Schedule

If you’re traveling to Dubai for COP28 (Nov. 30- Dec. 12), you know the schedule over the next couple of weeks is madness. Making the most of your time during the much-anticipated UN climate conference is essential, especially if you are a climate innovator or entrepreneur looking to network, partner, or make deals. Even if you’re not able to access the “Blue Zone” where the world leaders convene for negotiations, there are plenty of events to track and attend.

  • Already on your agenda is the COP28 Green Zone: Open to the public, this is where tech companies exhibit, and more than 300 talks take place. There are seven hubs: Energy Transition, Humanitarian, Knowledge, Youth, Climate Finance, Greening Education, Technology & Innovation, Impact, and the Start-up Village.
  • FT Sessions @COP (Nov. 30 – Dec. 12): Dovetailing off the main agenda at COP28, FT at COP will host debates and discussions throughout the course of the event that will evaluate and reflect on negotiations, announcements, and agreements taking place in the United Arab Emirates. The agenda will be led and moderated by the Financial Times’ journalists on the climate and ESG beats that have built the FT’s Climate Capital Hub and Moral Money Newsletter. Topics will mirror the main focus areas of COP, including Finance, Energy, Youth and Public Empowerment, Nature, Adaptation, Loss & Damage, Gender, Transport & Industries.
  • The Wall Street Journal’s Journal House at COP28 (Dec. 1-2): You need to request an invitation to this one. Session highlights include Sustainability as a Business Driver, Mark Carney on Climate and Investing, John Kerry on Climate Goals and Global Cooperation, and a WSJ Conversation with Google, FEMA and EPA. Lunch and cocktails, too.
  • Bloomberg Green at COP28 (Dec. 4-5): A conference within a conference, Bloomberg Green features 20 sessions in two days at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel. Four main themes include the Climate Economy, Cleaner Tech, Global Changemakers, and Greener Life. And of course, there are networking sessions built in.
    • Pro Tip: If you’re a fan, this is the place to meet Akshat Rathi, senior reporter, Bloomberg Green, host of the Zero podcast, and author of Climate Capitalism.
  • Axios House @COP28 (Dec. 4-6): Session topics include Global Sustainability, AI’s Role in Decarbonization, Achieving a Low-Carbon Future Through Collaboration, The Global Green Workforce (featuring Al Gore), Carbon Management’s Role in Addressing Climate Change, and The Future of Sustainable Aviation. Speakers are from Boeing, Microsoft, LinkedIn, US DOE, Citi, NextEra, UPS, Schneider Electric, and IBM, among other companies.
